Senior
Test Technician
Projects
· RTS Roving Test System: Test and troubleshooting of analog subsystem and
digital processing subsystem circuit cards that comprised a prototype CDMA
cellular phone system. Then moved into full system level testing. RTS was a
proof of concept phone system meant to demonstrate the viability of the CDMA
digital air interface to prospective clients considering large scale
deployment of 3rd generation cellular network equipment. Numerous variations
of this system were produced to meet unique requirements of the different
customers. System test consists of installing circuit cards into card cages,
cabling card cages together, applying power and configuring the cards with
their personalities, and tuning the RF transmitter subsystems to eliminate
out of band spurious signals. Final test consisted of placing over the air
phone calls with consumer model CDMA handsets, and subsequent hand off of
system to field engineering personnel who would then deploy the system at a
site determined by the customer for acceptance testing.
· CDMA One/CBS:
Worked with test and design engineers to build and validate production test
fixtures for mass production model of CDMA cellular telephone system circuit
cards and shelves. All aspects from prototype fixture construction, making
custom cabling, and troubleshooting circuit cards to the component level were
involved. Followed test fixtures from engineering lab to production floor and
trained junior technicians in operating test fixtures for production testing.
Transitioned to system level test of commercial cellular network product,
performing similar tasks to RTS testing.
· Globalstar:
Satellite based cellular telephone product produced in partnership with Loral
Aerospace LLC. Qualcomm responsible for building CDMA signal processing and
RF uplink for ground stations to communicate with satellite repeater network.
Worked with test engineering department building production test fixture for
RF power control module. Transitioning it to the production floor and
training junior technicians to operate test fixture for mass production.
Transitioned to system level testing and configuration of billing subsystems,
call flow control subsystems, and overall data traffic management subsystems.
Subsystems consisted of rack mounted single board computers running WindRiver
VxWorks real-time OS, sharing a common data and memory bus, all of which were
interconnected via Cisco Catalyst 5000 fast Ethernet switches and Cisco 2511
and 4700 series terminal servers.

that comprise functional block elements of CDMA cellular telephone system.
Test equipment utilized includes digital storage oscilloscopes, spectrum
analyzers, high precision signal generators, logic analyzer, RF power meter,
Ethernet packet analyzer, GN NavTel protocol analyzer, TTC Systems FireBerd
